The purpose of the Intelligence function is to support the AFP Executive and operational functions by providing timely, relevant and high quality actionable intelligence for use in all levels of decision making in the AFP.

The Work

Working as an intelligence officer or criminal intelligence analyst, you will use your critical thinking and analytical ability to provide timely, relevant and high-quality actionable intelligence to mitigate threats to Australia. This role enables you to influence all levels of decision-making in the AFP and make a real impact.

What we do

  • Partner with Investigations to combat serious crimes that threaten all Australians and Australia's interests. Our crime priorities are counter terrorism and foreign interference, child exploitation, transnational serious and organised crime, cyber, and fraud and anti-corruption 
  • Play a crucial role in providing AFP investigators with intelligence to assist with investigations, both domestically and internationally, and to identify leads for future investigations 
  • Proactively inform and influence AFP decision makers to enable prioritisation of resources and operational focus 
  • Develop and maintain working relationships with domestic and foreign law-enforcement agencies to provide timely and accurate intelligence reporting  
  • Liaise and collaborate with external agencies to support whole-of-government priorities, discover and develop technical and analytical tools, deliver high-level predictive intelligence products 
  • Be part of an inclusive environment to develop and deliver accredited and non-accredited intelligence training to AFP employees and the wider intelligence community.
