The Work

Specialist and support staff in the AFP enable the work of the AFP’s frontline. There are specialist roles in Intelligence, Forensics, Fraud and Anti-corruption and Cybercrime.  Support staff areas include Finance, Human Resources, Policy and Media.

What we do

  • Human resources officer – provides advice, guidance and support in line with AFP human resource policies and programs
  • Psychologist – provides professional psychological and mental health services to AFP employees
  • Welfare officer – works to support and improve the health and well-being of all AFP staff
  • Rehabilitation case manager – coordinates rehabilitation programs and return-to-work processes for injured appointees
  • Health and fitness professional – delivers training to improve the health and well-being of all AFP staff
  • Travel support officer – provides travel services, support and advice about corporate travel and accommodation and domestic relocations
  • Finance professional – provides finance advice and delivers accounting services
  • Logistics officer – provides support relating to the goods and services needed to support the AFP operational requirements
  • Recruitment consultant – provides strategic recruitment advice, guidance and support to AFP business areas to meet workforce needs
  • Workforce strategist – develops strategies to support sustainable workforce capability and capacity and help mitigate workforce and business risk
  • Diversity professional – develops, implements and reviews strategies to promote and increase diversity awareness and inclusive work practices
  • Forensic accountant – analyses, interprets and presents findings relating to complex financial and business-related information, including testifying in court as an expert witness and preparing visual aids to support trial evidence
  • Desktop and mobility support officer – provides customer-focused project and operational support, including resolution of hardware and software issues
  • Media liaison officer – highlights the operational results of the AFP to the media and wider community, and responds to questions from journalists to ensure the community is informed about crime, and how to stay safe.
