What is the role?

The AFP currently has vacancies for Executive Officers in Central Command. The role of an Executive Officer predominantly focuses on delivering critical and high level support to the executive and across the business area.

 

Working as an Executive Officer will provide you the opportunity to get involved with business operations including implementation and development of business projects. You will play an important role aiding Executives in their decision-making and administration processes, and proactively manage workflows and competing priorities. Executive Officers also source, compile and deliver briefings, internal and external communications, and engage in stakeholder consultations.

 

Our ideal candidate is someone who loves variation in their day to day work, is proactive and can manage competing priorities with ease. You will also need to be a strong communicator with an ability develop and foster strong relationships across the AFP.

 

You will also be required to contribute to the achievement of outcomes in accordance with the regulatory framework, the AFP Code of Conduct and the AFP Governance Instruments. It is expected that the successful applicant will deliver on the core responsibilities and meet any requirements of the position as outlined below.

What will you do?

 

  • Research, plan, deliver and coordinate projects as determined by the Commander/Assistant Commissioner.
  • Proactively manage workflows, write reports and briefs, assist with resource management and contribute to policy development and review.
  • Liaise and consult with staff across the Command to achieve divisional priorities, including responding effectively to emerging issues.
  • Represent the interests of the Commander/Assistant Commissioners' office with key internal & external stakeholders and at various meetings.
  • Develop and maintain a network of relationships across the AFP as well as private and public sectors.
  • Maintain currency in project management methodology through ongoing professional development and learning opportunities outside the formal education process.
  • Apply a high level of discretion, judgement and initiative to all situations and decision making to produce appropriate advice.

Essential Requirements

 

 

  • You must be an Australian Citizen at the time of application.
  • A Negative Vetting 1 (Secret) security clearance or the ability to obtain one.
  • A high attention to detail.
  • Ability to build relationships and work collaboratively with clients and organisational peers.
  • Have contemporary knowledge and experience relevant to the role.
  • Excellent communication; both verbal and written.
  • This role is based in Adelaide SA, and successful candidates will be expected to reside there.

Desirable Requirements

 

The following skills and/or experience would be highly regarded:

 

  • Tertiary (or equivalent) qualifications in relevant field.
  • Relevant qualification or extensive experience and knowledge in area of expertise.
