What is the role?
Applications are sought from suitable qualified applicants wishing to be considered for the role of Senior Team Member, Pinkenba Hub Logistics located in Brisbane, Queensland.
The AFP is a key contributor to the Australian Government’s Pacific Strategy. Pacific Command leads AFP’s engagement with Pacific Police partners with the primary focus to promote regional stability and to prevent and disrupt transnational crime threats. Pacific Command is responsible for delivering the Commissioner and Government’s strategic intent, with a significant focus on implementing the Pacific Policing Initiative (PPI) to strengthen partnerships and boost capabilities across the Pacific.
The AFP is responsible for the delivery of key capital works programs nationally and internationally. The role is within the Pacific Police Infrastructure Program Team and in direct support to the delivery of the Pacific step-up.
The newly opened Pacific Coordination and Development Hub (Pinkenba Hub) is a critical Pillar of the PPI and will be a training and education facility to support the initiative, and Pacific Policing Partners further training and development. The site has capacity to host 200+ of AFP members and Pacific secondments which requires dynamic and cost-effective logistics capability that effectively supports the core business of the Pinkenba Hub.
The role of Senior Team Member is critical to providing contemporary, dynamic and cost-effective logistics capability that effectively supports the core business of the Pinkenba Hub. This includes planning and execution of, general logistics, fleet management and procurement. As a Senior Team Member, you will be required to support, develop and implement activities to better support the operational needs of the Hub.
As a Senior Team Member in the AFP, you will be required to contribute to the achievement of outcomes in accordance with the regulatory framework, the AFP Code of Conduct and the AFP Governance Instruments. It is expected that the successful applicant will deliver on the core responsibilities and meet any requirements of the position outlined below.
What will you do?
This position works as part of a small team responsible for effective delivery of logistics and general support for the Pinkenba Hub, including responsibility for:
- Provide Logistical support to the Team Leader
- Developing plans and ensuring all resources are effectively directed at achieving business area outputs;
- Ensuring outputs are achieved within the strategic direction of the AFP;
- Developing team members and fulfilling a guiding, mentoring and advisory role;
- Leading a range of corporate support tasks;
- Assuming accountability for resources and supports and implements change management and improvement strategies;
- Performing a range of office management activities;
- Monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of ongoing AFP operational activities;
- Undertake projects, research and other tasks as required to support the Hub operations.
- Provide logistic support during the planning, preparation and deployment of specialist capability to support AFP both domestically and internationally.
Successful candidates will also:
- Communicate effectively with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders.
- Work effectively in a small team environment and independently.
- Record and maintain information in accordance with AFP requirements.
- Maintain a high standard of attention to detail.
- Manage own work, to meet tight deadlines and forward plan.
- Mentor junior staff members.
Essential Requirements
- A Negative Vetting 1 (Secret) security clearance or the ability to obtain one.
- High attention to detail with a strong work ethic.

- Willingness to be on-call.
