What is the role?

The ACT Policing Radio & Technical Services Team undertake projects, maintenance and support for ACT Policing and the AFP including:

  • CCTV/AV
  • Vehicle fitouts
  • Radio network
  • Speed detection equipment
  • Breath analysis Equipment

 

As a Senior Technical Officer, you will be responsible for the end-to-end design, installation, maintenance, and support of CCTV and audio-visual (AV) systems across ACT Policing. This includes leading technical delivery for installation of infrastructure, ensuring system reliability, and managing vendor and stakeholder engagement across multiple operational environments.

 

Please note that the working pattern for this position is Operations and as such will be subject to the appropriate conditions detailed in the AFP Enterprise Agreement. The successful candidate will need to demonstrate flexibility and to work the hours and patterns of attendance as directed by their supervisor on a 24 hour, seven days a week basis.

What will you do?

The role responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Design, implement, and maintain CCTV and AV systems throughout ACT Policing facilities and operational environments.
  • Lead and manage installation projects, system upgrades, and lifecycle maintenance activities.
  • Oversee and maintain IP networking infrastructure related to CCTV and AV systems, including switches, routers, and secure configurations.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to coordinate technical works and ensure system integrity.
  • Assist with technical support for radio communications and other field-based technology systems.
  • Maintain detailed technical documentation, network schematics, and system records.
  • Ensure compliance with security, privacy, and operational standards in all system deployments.
  • Work well within a team environment to achieve results.
  • Undertake a range of operational support tasks including team administrative duties when required.

Essential Requirements

 The successful candidate will possess the following essential requirements:

  • A Negative Vetting 1 (Secret) security clearance or the ability to obtain one.
  • Electronic and CCTV Security industry experience.
  • Electrical and Data/trade experience.
  • IT/Networking Qualifications or the ability to demonstrate extensive knowledge and experience.
  • Current first aid certificate or the ability to obtain one.
  • Current Drivers licence.
  • Possess ability to work at heights, confined spaces and in difficult physical circumstances.

Desirable Requirements

The following skills and/or experience would be highly regarded:

•    Certificate 3 in Electronics and/or relevant experience.
•    Heavy Rigid Vehicle and Motorbike Licences.
•    Metal work and fabrication experience.
