What is the role?
Applications are sought from suitably qualified applicants wishing to be considered for the role of Cloud Business Engagement Lead across a hybrid cloud environment.
The AFP requires a specialist cloud business engagement lead to provide subject matter expertise in the development, implementation, and on-going sustainment and project management of the AFP’s Cloud Platforms across Private Cloud (VMware), Amazon Webservices (AWS) and Microsoft Azure Cloud platforms.
To provide upfront engagement with the business to understand and help develop business requirements, act as a technical project manager, engage with technical teams to build and deliver secure and scalable solutions on the AFP’s Cloud platforms. Work in partnership across with Enterprise Architecture, Cyber Security and Legal to ensure on-going security of the cloud platforms. Take ownership of the cloud platform, develop future state roadmaps and drive adoption of cloud platforms across the business.
Technical Specialists provide expert consultancy within their area of specialism. They develop and promote technical solutions which support the business requirements of the AFP, within their area of expertise.
A Technical Specialist role does not hold any leadership or financial delegations.
What will you do?
Day to day you will:
- Provide expertise and technical leadership in the design and implementation and development of roadmaps across a Hybrid Cloud Environment.
- Demonstrate proficiency in the use of collaboration tools and project management principles.
- Document business requirements and operating procedures for Hybrid Cloud Environment.
- Experience leading a FinOps practice and responsibility for overseeing and driving cloud financial management strategies to optimize cloud costs, improve resource utilization, and ensure financial governance and compliance across cloud infrastructure
- Possessing strong technology and program/project management experience, you will validate technical solutions against business goals, recognize when additional technical evaluation is needed and manage technical risks.
- Experience in applying strong management and leadership skills to successfully execute project plans, proactively identify and manage risks, resolve issues, escalate when appropriate, and drive projects to successful completion, while exceeding customer expectation.
- Manage and lead complex cloud migration projects, ensuring alignment with desired business outcomes
- Demonstrated ability in facilitating communication and collaboration among various stakeholders, including technical teams, business leaders and vendors to ensure project success.
- Provide guidance and expertise to clients, acting as a trusted advisor to foster strong productive relationships and ensure customer satisfaction.
- Work with other parts of the Command to identify opportunities and implement solutions that improve business operations and drive transformation.
- Ensure implementation supports strategic direction and delivery of Platform as-a-Service and Software as-a-Service.
Essential Requirements
- You must be an Australian Citizen at the time of application.
- A Negative Vetting 1 (Secret) security clearance or the ability to obtain one.
- Master's degree with direct relevance to the specialist skill OR 10+ years extensive experience and knowledge in area of expertise.
- Experience with implementation and on-going sustainment of a hybrid cloud environment and ability to communicate effectively in both technical and business environments.
- Experience to distil complex problems, make informed trade-off decisions, and apply frameworks like Cloud Adoption frameworks
- Experience in understand customer needs and deliver solutions that meet their business objectives.
- Ability to identify opportunities for change and lead continuous improvement initiatives.
- Advanced experience with developing and managing team backlog and prioritisation and stakeholder negotiations.
Desirable Requirements
- You are familiar with security concepts found in the ISM and the implementation of said concepts in a PROTECTED environment.
- You have a no-nonsense approach when participating in internal or external conversations and are able to communicate complex technical concepts, resolve issues and foster good relationships.
- Thorough knowledge of Agile methodologies, especially Scrum and DevOps, and the ability to effectively contribute to scrum teams consistent with scrum principles and values (including assisting the business in prioritising their business requirements or product backlog).
- You will be a hands-on and a pragmatic leader with experience leading technical teams.
Additional Information
This position can be worked from any capital city in Australia but will report into the section based in Canberra, ACT.
