What is the role?

 

Applications are sought from suitably qualified applicants wishing to be considered for the role of a Communications and Marketing Officer.

 

As a Communications and Marketing Officer you will identify and drive opportunities to promote the AFP to the broader Australian community. You will be a progressive and creative thinker, aligning brand initiatives to business needs and desired outcomes. You will work collaboratively with a range stakeholders and vendors to bring campaigns/ branding initiatives to life, within budget, timeframes and delivered to an exceptional quality.

 

Marketing Communications is responsible for market research; raising awareness and understanding the AFP and its role within the community; promoting the AFP as an employer of choice and attracting a diverse range of applicants to the agency through marketing, outreach and partnerships.

 

The section works in partnership with AFP Strategic Communications, Enterprise Communications, Media and other internal business areas to deliver these services.

 

You will play a pivotal role in contributing to a positive workplace culture through collaboration with colleagues, maintaining a results focus for broader team success, and respecting and valuing the different perspectives and talents of colleagues, internal and external stakeholders.

 

You will also be required to contribute to the achievement of outcomes in accordance with the regulatory framework, the AFP Code of Conduct and the AFP Governance Instruments. It is expected that the successful applicant will deliver on the core responsibilities and meet any requirements of the position as outlined below.

What will you do?

 

As a Communications and Marketing Officer you will:

 

  • Develop and implement internal and external communication campaigns, strategies and plans.
  • Analyse the market and seek opportunities to build and enhance the AFP brand's image.
  • Support the implementation of a long-term brand strategy, outreach/event plans and marketing campaigns.
  • Plan and develop content for a range of AFP channels including website, newsletter, video, podcast and social media. Utilise strong writing skills to produce written content for a variety of different audiences. Establish, build and manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders and vendors to deliver on intended outcomes.
  • Lead initiatives to raise the AFP profile to make it a household brand and an employer of choice.
  • Plan, facilitate and attend a range of internal and external events.
  • Work with suppliers to deliver a range of marketing collateral including merchandise, banners, digital artwork, brochures, presentations, video and posters.
  • Support the team and work with the Australian Government media buying agency to plan and deliver paid advertising campaigns.

Essential Requirements

  • You must be an Australian Citizen at the time of application.
  • A Negative Vetting 1 (Secret) security clearance or the ability to obtain one.
  • Relevant qualifications in journalism, communications, marketing, or at least 3 years' experience in a role involving writing and editing.
  • Ability to be flexible and dynamic in response to changing priorities.
  • Ability to cultivate productive and effective working relationships.
  • High level of attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills.
