What is the role?

Applications are sought from suitably qualified applicants wishing to be considered for the role of Coordinator (EL 2 equivalent) – Logistics Command within the Procurement, Logistics and Records Branch of the CFO Command

The Coordinator works in a high tempo environment, leading multiple diverse teams delivering a range of corporate services to the AFP. The role has both a practical and strategic focus requiring the application of sound business principles in the management of resources to meet AFP outputs in the most effective and efficient manner:

  • The Strategy Monitoring & Evaluation Team provide support at a high level to establish, secure and execute Logistic Command operational requirements. The team specialises in business research, analytic services, change and project management.
  • The Uniform Support Team is the forward-facing customer service cell that connects AFP business areas to their uniform requirements to ensure the organisation meets strategic and operational objectives and mitigates enterprise risk.
  • The Supply Chain Management Team is responsible for the lifecycle management of controlled items and nominated corporate inventory items. The team supports bulk domestic and international freight movement on behalf of the broader AFP, supply of care packages for deployed members across the pacific & rest of the world as well as receipt, asset & distribution of ICT equipment, and logistics support to AFP operations and projects as required.
  • The Fleet Team administer the Whole of Australian Government Fleet Services contract on behalf of the AFP and provide management of over 1,300 vehicles in the AFP Fleet.
  • Driving business process improvements for the reduction of red tape.
  • Implementing leading edge technology and process change utilising effective change management practice.
  • Developing governance and policy across teams.

The Coordinator is required to ensure outcomes are delivered in accordance with CFO Command strategic priorities, regulatory frameworks, and the AFP Code of Conduct. It is expected that the successful applicant will deliver on the core responsibilities and meet any requirements of the position.

Logistics Command offers and employs a range of flexible work options by mutual agreement and in accordance with operational priorities including but not limited to part time and flexible work arrangements.

What will you do?

The Coordinator provides leadership and strategic direction to deliver Command outcomes. This role has in depth knowledge and understanding of the AFP business and the impact or roles and functions undertaken in relation to the organisation’s reputation to effectively manage operations.

The Coordinator must ensure that the AFP is able to meet all of its statutory reporting and compliance obligations, in accordance with regulatory frameworks and the AFP Governance Framework. 

Reporting to Manager Procurement, Logistics & Records, the Coordinator role is required to:

  • Represent the Logistics Command on boards and steering committees, where appropriate
  • Liaise with senior stakeholders on CFO Command objectives and alignment with AFP business needs
  • Strategic oversight of organisational structure and resources, including but not limited to staffing and management of assets
  • Actively manage and promote a healthy working environment. This includes embracing diversity, inclusion and respect.
  • Position the AFP and the Logistics Command as a partner by maintaining effective internal and external relationships.
  • Establish robust governance structures and enduring staff structures that manage the outcomes and workflow for the corporate systems team in support of the AFP to effectively manage operations.
  • Provide leadership and strategic direction to the Logistics Command in the delivery of outcomes for the AFP.

Essential Requirements

  • NV1 security clearance (or the ability to obtain one)
  • Extensive knowledge and experience in Logistics Command activities
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Management/leadership skills and experience
  • Demonstrated application of the AFP Risk Management and Governance Frameworks

 

Desirable Requirements

The following skills and/or experience would be highly regarded:

  • Demonstrated experience in delivering applicable corporate services 
  • Knowledge of government and industry strategic initiatives
