What is the role?

 

Applications are sought from suitably qualified applicants wishing to be considered for the role of Coordinator Physical Security and Operations.

 

Coordinator Physical Security and Operations must possess strong leadership and people management skills, as well as a sound understanding of security practice, processes, skillsets and frameworks.

 

You will work under the strategic direction of the senior executive and are responsible for the leadership and management of a number of teams.

 

Appointees at this level require in-depth knowledge and understanding of the AFP business and the impact of roles and functions undertaken to effectively manage operations.

 

The role has both a practical and strategic focus requiring the application of sound business principles in the management of resources to meet AFP outputs in the most effective and efficient manner.

 

You will also be responsible for leading and managing a team/s dedicated to delivering a business function to the AFP. As an Executive Level AFP appointee you will ensure the achievement of outcomes are in accordance with the regulatory framework, the AFP Code of Conduct and the AFP Governance Instruments.

What will you do?

 

The Coordinator Physical Security and Operations leads a diverse workforce made-up of intelligence practitioners, investigators, regional security advisors, trainers and security specialists. The position leads and manages delivery of physical and electronic security overlays, security culture uplift, training, governance and responses to threats to AFP appointees.

 

As a Coordinator you will play a pivotal role in developing people, managing change and influencing behaviours through a supportive culture that respects the perspectives, talents, and values of individuals and AFP partners. You will deliver on business area priorities and your own responsibilities, acting at all times consistently with AFP values, the AFP leadership and command philosophies, organisational reform agendas, AFP corporate plans, and your own Charter of Performance.

 

You will:

 

  • Lead security teams to deliver outputs, while supporting AFP Senior Executive to shape strategic initiatives;
  • work closely with AFP Commands, other specialist capabilities, and external partners to effectively deliver security outcomes;
  • Oversee operational responses to security threats towards the AFP and its members;
  • Represent the AFP in relevant forums whilst maintaining and developing collaborative working relationships;
  • Develop, execute and evaluate strategy in consultation with key stakeholders;
  • Develop the security workforce and provide mentoring for Security Command Team Leaders and Senior Team Leaders;
  • Maintain contemporary knowledge of relevant legislation and the Protective Security Policy Framework;
  • Apply the AFP Performance Management Framework;
  • Record and maintain information in accordance with AFP requirements;
  • Oversee the development and maintenance of security governance and policy;
  • Communicate effectively in written and oral formats; and
  • Display sound judgement and an ability to prioritise in a high tempo and often dynamic environment.

Essential Requirements

 

  • You must be an Australian Citizen at the time of application.
  • Hold a Top Secret Negative Vetting (NV2) security clearance or ability to obtain one;
  • Proven and extensive leadership experience.
  • Demonstrated high level of integrity and accountability, and ability to work in a high security environment;
  • Demonstrated ability to lead personnel and develop productive working relationships; 
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with internal and external partners; and
  • Technical knowledge and skills (applicable to the role)

Desirable Requirements

 

  • Recent experience leading in a security focussed role.
  • A TS-PV or TS-PA clearance or the ability to obtain one.
