The AFP is looking for applicants wishing to be considered for the role of Operational Response Head of Physical Performance (OR HoPP) in our Specialist Protective Command.
The OR HoPP position aims to increase the availability, longevity and capability of physical performance of Operations Response (OR) members in a dynamic high-performance setting. OR consists of three capabilities - Discreet Operations, Specialist Technical Operations and Tactical Response teams.
The role is specific to OR, providing members and teams with tailored innovative training programs and performance coaching to meet the demands of their roles. OR has a dedicated physical training facility (various gym equipment) and recovery area (ice baths / saunas) under the management of OR HoPP to support injury prevention and management.
The role works closely and collaborative with other AFP areas, including SHIELD in the provisions of psychological, physiotherapy, medical treatment and dietitians to provide a holistic approach to OR members wellbeing and maintain high performance.
What will you do?
As the Operations Response Head of Physical Performance your role and responsibilities will include:
- Providing high performance physical coaching and sports science support to OR members.
- Designing and implementing physical programs for OR members to promote performance and longevity in their specific roles.
- Undertaking functional capacity evaluations to identity injury risk, injury mitigation activities and management of pre-existing medical conditions.
- Providing reports to SO Executive to inform and drive initiatives to improve physical performance outcomes.
- Monitoring, assessing and evaluating fitness and treatment programs for OR members.
- Managing and maintaining OR physical training facility (gym equipment) and recovery area (ice baths / saunas).
- Designing, implementing and oversee coaching programs for applicants in support of OR Selection Programs.
- Developing and implementing individually tailored exercise programs to manage, restore, and improve optimal physical function for AFP staff.
- Liaising with external health professionals and other relevant stakeholders within AFP Organisational Health to ensure a holistic, multidisciplinary treatment approach.
- Managing the collaboration agreement between the University of Canberra and the guild research programs. This involves ensuring that all parties adhere to the collaboration agreement, managing communication between them, and monitoring the progress of the collaboration to ensure that it meets its objectives.
Essential Requirements
- You must be an Australian Citizen at the time of application.
- A Negative Vetting 1 (Secret) security clearance or the ability to obtain one.
- Formal qualifications and / or extensive professional experience relevant to the role.
