What is the role?

Applications are sought from suitably qualified applicants wishing to be considered for the role of Team Member (Band 4) - International Travel within Shared Services.
Shared Services is placed within Business Services, which sits under the Chief Financial Officer (CFO). Business Services is a multifaceted branch, which directly contributes to AFP operational outcomes, providing support and enabling our people to deliver maximum impact to the criminal environment. The experience you bring to the role will benefit the organisation by:

  • Providing high-quality corporate services to the AFP (supporting the frontline)
  • Manage and implement business and system improvements to remove barriers, speed up decision
  • making and increase efficiency (Reducing red tape)
  • Provide training and help desk facilities to enhance partnerships, engage and work closely with both our
  • members and external stakeholders (enhancing partnerships)

Team Members within the International Travel Team; work in a high tempo environment, which delivers international travel services to AFP appointees and visitors. The International Travel Team is a diverse team comprising a wide range of skills and experience in corporate service delivery. Team members are therefore required to ensure outcomes in accordance with Business Services strategic priorities, regulatory frameworks, and the AFP Code of Conduct. It is expected that the successful applicants will deliver on the core responsibilities and meet any requirements of the positions as outlined below.
Shared Services offers and employs a range of flexible work options by mutual agreement and in accordance with operational priorities including but not limited to part time and flexible work arrangements.
In addition to International Travel, the Shared Services function delivers customer focused services in many areas including domestic relocations, expense management, corporate card management, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Treasury and Debt Management Teams.

What will you do?

Corporate Services are critical to support frontline AFP personnel who protect the Australian community. The skill, dedication and professionalism of corporate service providers greatly contribute to the ability of the AFP and partners to concentrate their powers and capabilities most accurately and for maximum impact on crime.
In the Band 4 Team Member position, you will specifically focus on providing international travel service (including working with WoAG Travel Management providers) to AFP appointees and visitors.
Working effectively in a small team yet high-tempo work environment, daily duties performed in the role
Include but are not limited to:

  • Assisting the International Travel Team to ensure AFP members receive assistance with booking international travel in a timely manner.
  • Providing support to AFP members on the application and issuing of Official passports and Visas for international travel.
  • Maintaining currency in all associated governance for travel and corporate cards including National Guidelines and policy documents.
     

Essential Requirements

  • You must be an Australian Citizen.
  • A Negative Vetting 1 (Secret) security clearance or the ability to obtain one.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and/or maintain positive internal and external networks.
  • A valid driver’s licence.
  • Minimum five (5) years’ experience in international travel Management or proven relevant industry experience
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite
  • The ability to work effectively in a team
  • High level customer service and communication skills
  • Well developed organisational skills and demonstrated capability to manage competing priorities. 

Desirable Requirements

  • Ability to liaise strongly with external stakeholders.
  • Experience maintaining Microsoft Excel spreadsheets.
  • Knowledge and experience working with CTM as part of the WoAG agreement.
  • Experience in providing coordinated corporate travel services
  • Experience and understanding of WoAG Travel Arrangement policies
  • Performing a range of office management activities.
  • Contributing to the development and implementation of corporate policies, processes and systems which enhance the delivery of AFP operational outcomes.
  • Maintaining currency in subject matter expertise through ongoing professional development and learning opportunities outside the formal education process.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of global distribution system(s) Galileo, Sabre and/or Amadeus.
  • A relevant qualification or extensive experience and knowledge in international travel.
