What is the role?

 

Applications are sought from suitably qualified applicants wishing to be considered for the role of Band 7 Team Leader – Marketing.

 

In this role, you will lead efforts to drive growth in brand understanding and attract diverse, high quality candidates to the AFP. You will lead your team to identify and drive opportunities to enhance community awareness of the roles and responsibilities of the AFP its people to the local, national and international community. You will use data and analytics to make decisions, evaluate and optimise the effectiveness of marketing activity.

 

In addition to managing a team of five marketing practitioners, you will also work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders and vendors to bring market research, campaigns, partnerships, projects, content and outreach activities to life. You will play a key role in innovating marketing systems and enhancing processes to help the team manage its workload, achieve its potential and provide clear and concise information to job candidates and the broader community. 

 

As a Team Leader you also play a pivotal role in developing people, managing change and influencing behaviours that lead to a supportive culture that respects the perspectives, talents and value of each individual. Consistent with the AFP values, AFP leadership philosophy, organisational reform agendas, AFP corporate business plans and your Performance Development Agreement, the expectation is that you will deliver on the core responsibilities and meet any requirements of the position as outlined below.

What will you do?


Responsibilities for the position include:
 

  • Lead, manage, coach and mentor a small team of marketing practitioners working across various States and Territories.
  • Effectively triaging requests from business line areas and assigning appropriate resources for the successful delivery of agreed outcomes.
  • Driving engaging, innovative and contemporary marketing, events, communications strategies, plans and recruitment/attraction campaigns for the AFP. This includes providing a quality control function and ensuring they are delivered on time and within agreed budgets.
  • Monitoring analytics and data to track trends.
  • Managing market research, user testing and delivering regular marketing reports. 
  • Liaising with in-house creative team and external agencies to develop a range of campaigns and marketing assets including podcasts, videos, social media, collateral and advertisements.
  • Writing and editing a range of written materials in line with the Australian Government Style Guide including plans, briefs, talking points, scripts, digital and print materials.
  • Briefing and working with the Australian Government’s media buying agency to arrange paid advertising across a variety of channels including digital, out of home and cinema.
  • Face-to-face and digital event planning and implementation.
  • Providing marketing communications advice and support for AFP members and Executive.
  • Overseeing the team's budget, reporting, compliance and procurement.
  • Overseeing marketing automation software and content creation for lead generation. 

Essential Requirements

 

  • You must be an Australian Citizen at the time of application.
  • A Negative Vetting 1 (Secret) security clearance or the ability to obtain one.
  • Tertiary education qualifications in communications, marketing, public relations or extensive experience relevant to the role.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in a like or related field.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a high performing team.
  • Proven experience in marketing or media landscape (with a focus on digital developments) and the ability to leverage these for innovative and effective campaign delivery.
  • Ability to be flexible and dynamic in response to changing priorities.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills with the ability to manage and build relationships with diverse and complex stakeholder groups.
