What is the role?

Central Procurement Services (CPS) is responsible for delivering the strategic framework, contract management and industry engagement model to support AFP operational outcomes through compliant and timely procurements.

CPS is looking for highly motivated and organised individuals who are able to work effectively under limited direction to deliver procurement expertise to enable value for money and compliance across AFP procurement activities in support of AFP operations and activities. The team is based in Canberra, ACT however there could be opportunity to work out of Regional Command Offices.

As a Band 5 Team Member in the AFP you will be required to contribute to the achievement of outcomes in accordance with the regulatory framework, the AFP Code of Conduct and the AFP Governance Instruments. It is expected that the successful applicants will contribute to the delivery of team responsibilities by meeting the role requirements of the position as outlined below.

What will you do?

  • Lead day to day processing of contracts, shopping carts and confirmation receipts in accordance with deadlines.
  • Lead the drafting and review of request for quotes, spending proposals and contracts, seeking advice when required.
  • Interpreting and providing advice to staff on procurements and contracts with consideration of related legislation, policies and procedures and escalating when required.
  • Undertake general administrative duties associated with the provision of procurement and contracting services to the agency.
  • Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Advise business areas on simple procurement actions consistent with AFP procurement governance.
  • Participate as a constructive team member to deliver ongoing improvements, quality of service and professional practices and standards.
  • Contribute to and implement improved operational practices, procedures and guidelines.
  • Maintain a contemporary knowledge of Commonwealth procurement legislative frameworks, rules and guidance

Essential Requirements

  • You must be an Australian Citizen at the time of application.
  • A Negative Vetting 1 (Secret) security clearance or the ability to obtain one.
  • Minimum of 1 years’ experience in Procurement and Contract Management.

 

Desirable Requirements

The following skills and/or experience would be highly regarded:

  • An ability to practically apply procurement knowledge to achieve compliant outcomes
  • Be adaptable and flexible to changing policy, needs and resources.
  • Demonstrated ability to strategically support and contribute to a team.
  • Relevant qualification or experience and knowledge in area of Procurement and Contract Management

 

Additional Information

This role is an AFP Band 5 level

The role is to ideally be based in Canberra, however consideration may be given for consideration to work from one of our national office locations
