Role Summary
Are you a highly organised problem solver with great people skills? If this sounds like you, we encourage you to submit your application for the ACT Policing’s Register of Interest. This register will be used to fill existing and upcoming Band 3, 4, 5 and 6 vacancies in ACT Policing’s Human Resources (ACTP HR).
The HR business area in ACTP is a multi-disciplinary team that operates in a fast-paced and flexible environment, providing high level HR guidance, support and solutions to the ACTP Executive and workforce. ACTP HR is comprised of four (4) teams:
HR Rostering & Advisory
HR Analytics
Workforce Management
Injury Prevention and Management Team
As a Band 3 Team member your responsibilities could include:
- Conduct general office management and administrative tasks;
- Manage and respond to enquiries from internal and external stakeholders;
- Provide support to the ACTP HR teams in the development and implementation of corporate policies, processes and systems which enhance the delivery of ACT Policing outcomes.
As a Band 4 Team Member:
- Creating work schedules/rosters and offering guidance on ACT Policing policies for effective shift planning;
- Analysing workforce data to make informed decisions and enhance HR processes;
- Supporting HR projects, participating in team efforts, while ensuring smooth day-to-day office operations;
- Establishing effective relationships with employees and leaders to understand their needs and address any issues, promoting teamwork through strong connections;
As a Band 5 Team Member:
- Providing advice on Human Resources issues including workforce planning, recruitment, performance management, and compliance with the AFP’s industrial framework;
- Actively engaging with sworn members and ACT Policing Executive, providing support to encourage effective decision making on governance, legislation and workforce metrics;
- Mentoring and training new and developing members in the team;
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with key stakeholders within ACTP as well as the broader AFP;
As a Band 6 Team Member:
- Supporting the Team Leader to manage team resources and outcomes on project, reporting, and transactional tasks;
- Coaching, leading, and supporting team members to ensure they have the necessary support, skills, and capability to achieve objectives;
- Providing high-level HR advice and services to ACTP Executive levels, Team Leaders, and other ACTP stakeholders to ensure compliance in accordance with relevant legislation, codes of practice and AFP Governance;
- Working with key stakeholders such as People Strategies, Quintiq, Corporate Service counterparts, and the ACTP Operational and Corporate Workforce.
Desirable Skills
Essential Requirements
- You must be an Australian Citizen at the time of application
- A Negative Vetting 1 (Secret) security clearance or the ability to obtain one
- Good organisation, administrative and time management skills
- Proven ability to develop and maintain good working relationships
- High level of attention to detail
Desirable Requirements/Training
- Demonstrated experience in Human Resources is desirable but not essential
- Strong knowledge in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
