What is the role?

 

Applications are sought from suitably qualified applicants wishing to be considered for the role of SOE Engineer.

 

The Modern Workplace Team within the Chief Information Office (CIO) command is responsible for developing and maintaining the Standard Operating Environments (SOE) used across all managed AFP Enterprise Systems. This covers design and architecture of base operating systems and critical infrastructure used by the other teams within the CIO command to then build systems or deploy end user devices in support of operational and business outcomes. The team is a multi-disciplinary team focused on delivering business value and continuous improvement by leveraging innovative on-prem and cloud-based solutions.

 

As a Team Member in the AFP you will be required to contribute to the achievement of outcomes in accordance with the regulatory framework, the AFP Code of Conduct and the AFP Governance Instruments. It is expected that the successful applicant will deliver on the core responsibilities and meet any requirements of the position as outlined below.

What will you do?

 

Roles and responsibilities of the include:

 

  • Providing operational support and technical advice through the development, deployment, and maintenance of on-prem and cloud managed devices.
  • Package and deploy applications using Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM) and Microsoft Intune.
  • Implement automation scripts and technical solutions to streamline SOE management.
  • Collaborating across multiple teams within Operations Technology and the business to evaluate and identify on-prem and cloud-based solutions.
  • Troubleshoot incidents, identify root cause, fix and document problems, and implement preventive measures.
  • Prepare As Built, As Configured, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) documentation, and conduct skills transfer to CIO command members.
  • Managing on-prem and cloud environments in accordance with Information Security Manual (ISM) and Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF).
  • Proactive approach to documenting all output of learning, development, testing and operation activities.

Essential Requirements

 

  • You must be an Australian Citizen at the time of application.
  • A Negative Vetting 1 (Secret) security clearance or the ability to obtain one.
  • (Band 8) Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a like or related field.
  • (Band 8) Extensive experience / expertise in Microsoft Intune or equivalent Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager.
  • (Band 7) Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a like or related field.
  • (Band 7) Knowledge and experience in Microsoft Intune or equivalent Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager.
  • Experience in SOE/MOE Creation, Maintenance and Deployment, including security updates and patching for Windows/macOS/iOS/Android.
  • Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Azure Active Directory and Entra ID.

Desirable Requirements

 

The following skills and/or experience would be highly regarded:

 

  • You are familiar with security concepts found in the ISM, implementation and compliance of ASD Essential 8.
  • Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Defender, Trellix and/or equivalent security products.
  • Knowledge and expierence with Azure Virtual Infrastructure (Azure Virtual Desktop and / or Windows 365).
  • Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Purview.
  • Knowledge and experience with Citrix Endpoint Management (CEM), Microsoft Intune or equivalent Mobile Device Management (MDM) products.
  • Knowledge and experience across Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops (CVAD).
  • Knowledge and experience in SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams and M365.
  • Knowledge and experience in Windows Server.
  • Advanced scripting (e.g. PowerShell, PSAppDeployToolkit, etc).

Additional Information

 

  • This position has been advertised in Canberra, Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne. The role is located in Canberra, however opportunities to work remotely from another AFP office in Australia will be considered.
  • When applying you will be asked to nominate your preferred band level, however final determination of the band level you are found suitable for is at the discretion of the panel.
