What is the role?

Applications are sought from suitably qualified applicants wishing to be considered for the role of Senior Marketing Officer with the AFP.  

 

Marketing Communication’s mission is to make the AFP a trusted, reputable household name and law enforcement employer of choice that makes our people united and proud.

 

As a Senior Marketing Officer you will identify and drive opportunities to promote the AFP to the broader Australian community. You will be a progressive and creative thinker, aligning brand initiatives to business needs and desired outcomes. You will work collaboratively with a range stakeholders and vendors to bring marketing initiatives to life, within budget, timeframes and delivered to an exceptional quality.

 

Marketing Communications is responsible for market research; raising awareness and understanding the AFP and its role within the community; promoting the AFP as an employer of choice and attracting a diverse range of applicants to the agency.

 

The section works in partnership with AFP Strategic Communications, Corporate Communications, Media and other internal business areas to deliver these services.

 

You will play a pivotal role in contributing to a positive workplace culture through collaboration with colleagues, mentoring junior team members, maintaining a results focus for broader team success, and respecting and valuing the different perspectives and talents of colleagues, internal and external stakeholders.

What will you do?

As Senior Marketing Officer you will:  

 

 

  • Lead marketing initiatives to raise the AFP profile to make it a household brand and an employer of choice.
  • Analyse the market and seek opportunities to build and enhance understanding of the AFP. 
  • Support the implementation of a long-term brand strategy, outreach/event plans and marketing campaigns.
  • Manage branding and attraction activities and projects.
  • Plan and develop content for a range of external and AFP owned channels including website, newsletter, video, podcast and social media.
  • Use strong writing skills to produce written content for a variety of different audiences.
  • Manage media buying with the Australian Government contracted agency to plan, deliver and evaluate paid advertising campaigns.
  • Establish, build and manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders and provide marketing communications advice and support for AFP members and Executive. 
  • Plan, facilitate and attend a range of internal and external events with a variety of industry partners. 
  • Analyse and optimise marketing performance, providing detailed reports on key metrics to drive continuous improvement.
  • Work with suppliers to deliver a range of marketing collateral including merchandise, banners, digital artwork, brochures, presentations, video and posters.
  • Supervise, train and mentor junior team members. 
  • Assist the Team Leader with budget, reporting, compliance, and procurement. 

Essential Requirements

  • You must be an Australian Citizen at the time of application.
  • A Negative Vetting 1 (Secret) security clearance or the ability to obtain one.
  • Tertiary education qualifications in communications, marketing, public relations or extensive experience relevant to the role.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in a like or related field.
  • Proven experience in marketing or media landscape (with a focus on digital developments) and the ability to leverage these for innovative and effective campaign delivery.
  • Ability to be flexible and dynamic in response to changing priorities.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills with the ability to manage and build relationships with diverse and complex stakeholder groups.
