What is the role?
The Chief Technology Officer branch is seeking Senior Network Delivery Engineers to deliver complex infrastructure upgrades and oversee technical execution across multi-domain enterprise networks.
The Network Operations team is responsible for the day-to-day operations, support, and delivery of the organisation’s enterprise-wide network infrastructure. This includes:
- Campus and branch networking (LAN/WAN) across routing, switching, and wireless (Cisco and Aruba)
- Data centre networking using Cisco ACI and VMware NSX
- Cloud networking within Azure and AWS environments
- FortiGate firewalls and DMZ/gateway infrastructure
- Cisco AnyConnect remote access and VPN technologies
- Load balancing with F5 BIG-IP
Engineers in this role will lead the execution of complex network changes and drive consistency across delivery standards and configuration practices. With high involvement across campus, data centre, and cloud domains, this position suits experienced network professionals who are confident working across disciples and delivery high-quality infrastructure outcomes in enterprise environments.
You will be trusted with translating architectural direction into practical, executable delivery. You will coordinate changes that span across teams, ensure standards are followed, and troubleshoot advanced issues across the environment. This role requires a delivery-oriented mindset with deep technical knowledge and attention to operational integrity.

What will you do?
Senior Network Delivery Engineers work under the broad direction of the Network Operations Team Leader to support the delivery of the team’s responsibilities across enterprise network infrastructure.
Key tasks and duties include:
- Develop and lead detailed implementation plans for high-impact campus and multi-domain upgrades.
- Coordinate and deliver complex infrastructure changes across campus, firewall, and cloud environments, ensuring integration and compliance.
- Serve as primary escalation point for P1/P2 incidents and major change events, guiding resolution and root-cause analysis.
- Standardise operational practices—configuration templates, delivery workflows—across the team.
- Ensure operational compliance with security and governance requirements, liaising with architects and stakeholders.
- Mentor Network Engineers via coaching, peer reviews, and capability-building efforts.
- Oversee project delivery, enforce standards, and manage delivery risks.
- Forecast and manage multi-stream timelines, resource allocation, and hardware lifecycle planning.
- Maintain ongoing communication with the Team Leader and stakeholders regarding delivery progress, incident outcomes, emerging risks, and resource implications.
Essential Requirements
- You must be an Australian Citizen at the time of application.
- A Negative Vetting 1 (Secret) security clearance or the ability to obtain one.
- Minimum of 3 years experience related to a senior network engineer role or similar.
- Demonstrated experience implementing, delivering, and operating large-scale enterprise networks.
- Extensive knowledge of campus networking (routing, switching, wireless) plus familiarity with adjacent domains.
- Proven leadership in high-severity incident resolution and complex change delivery.
- Strong coordination, planning, and stakeholder-communication skills.
- Ability to mentor and uplift engineering teams.
Desirable Requirements
The following skills and/or experience would be highly regarded:
- Experience with Cisco ACI, Aruba SD-WAN, Catalyst Center, Fortinet, F5, or cloud-network integrations.
- Infrastructure automation (Ansible, Terraform, Python).
- Senior-level certifications (CCNP/CCIE, Aruba Edge Expert, Fortinet NSE).
Additional Information
- This position has been advertised in multiple locations, however the role is located in Canberra ACT. Successful applicants must be willing to relocate to Canberra ACT at their own expense.
- Domestic or International travel may be required for this role, depending on AFP business needs.
