What is the role?

 

Planning and Management Section reports to the Chief Technology Officer and is an enabling team providing procurement, contracting, finance, risk, business continuity and governance support to the Chief Information Officer Command.

 

The section is often required to receive and review incoming requests for management and expected to triage, value-add and assist the CIO Command in responding to those requests.

 

As the Senior Team Member, you will be working as part of a small team to coordinate activities, update documentation, deliver reports and provide Command support. The role is required to provide accurate and timely advice in relation activities and work under limited supervision. This role will work collaboratively within CIO Command and the broader AFP through the engagement of key stakeholders such as Governance, Legal, Internal Audit, Business Continuity and Risk and Assurance. 

 

As a Team Member in the AFP, you will also be required to contribute to the achievement of outcomes in accordance with the regulatory framework and the AFP Code of Conduct. It is expected that the successful applicant will deliver on the core responsibilities and meet any requirements of the position as outlined below.

What will you do?

 

Your work may include:

 

  • Maintain oversight of coordination activities to ensure centralisation of requests and tasks are completed on time.
  • Coordination activities include CIO Freedom of Information (FOI), CIO Command Government Instrument Framework (GIF), CIO Audit Activities, CIO Command Committees, Risk Management and Business Continuity.
  • Produce, design and deliver timely accurate reports on a regular basis for coordination activities.
  • Provide timely, efficient and effective advice including high level research, project management and Command support.
  • Provide accurate and timely advice in relation to business activities, including updating communication channels such as teams and SharePoint.
  • Develop standard operating procedure documentation to support CIO activities.
  • Assist in the drafting & coordination of Command/Portfolio responses to internal and external requests, including managing workflows for briefs.
  • Contribute to the establishment and attainment of team goals.
  • Undertake project and research work as directed.
  • Identify and leverage opportunities to enhance communication, processes.
  • Cultivate productive working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders
  • Attend and manage relevant command meetings as required providing comprehensive secretariat services.

Essential Requirements

 

  • You must be an Australian Citizen at the time of application.
  • A Negative Vetting 1 (Secret) security clearance or the ability to obtain one.
  • Demonstrated expertise, experience and contemporary knowledge relevant to the role.
  • Strong writing skills and ability to self-manage workloads.
  • High-level communication and collaboration skills in an environment that has multiple internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong Microsoft Skills or the ability to learn programs such as Microsoft Forms, Microsoft Power BI, SharePoint and Microsoft Excel.

  • This role is located in Canberra, ACT and applicants are expected to be based in Canberra. Successful applicants must be willing to relocate at their own expense.
