What is the role?

 

Applications are sought from suitably qualified applicants wishing to be considered for the role of Team Leader ACT Policing Commercial.

 

The ACT Policing Commercial team is responsible for providing expert advice and assistance to support our members in the delivery of Operational outcomes for ACT Policing and its stakeholders, including:

 

  • Procurements and contracts
  • Facilities maintenance
  • Infrastructure and refurbishment projects
  • Asset management
  • Capital projects and
  • Logistics support

 

Our ideal candidate is someone who demonstrates experience providing strategic procurement advice, delivery of capital works, refurbishment and fit out projects, has good interpersonal and negotiation skills, as well as the ability to coach and develop team members. 

 

As a Team Leader in the AFP you will play a pivotal role in developing people, managing change and influencing behaviours that lead to a supportive culture that respects the perspectives, talents and value of each individual. Consistent with the AFP values, AFP leadership philosophy, organisational reform agendas, AFP corporate business plans and your Performance Development Agreement, the expectation is that you will deliver on the core responsibilities and meet any requirements of the position as outlined below.

 

You will also be required to contribute to the achievement of outcomes in accordance with the regulatory framework, the AFP Code of Conduct and the AFP Governance Instruments.


 

What will you do?

 

As a Team Leader your responsibilities will include: 


•    Being accountable for managing and leading a team, including managing allocated resources, setting work area priorities, workflows, developing strategies and evaluating business outcomes.
•    Developing team members and fulfilling a guiding, mentoring and advisory role.
•    Undertake procurements as well as being a key contact for procurements and contracts advice.
•    Manage the key elements of the development, delivery and implementation of capital works projects including full accountability for time, cost and quality outcomes.
•    Establish and maintain effective liaison with partners and stakeholders, in particular within the Australian Federal Police and the ACT Government's Justice and Community Safety Directorate (JACS).
•    Assisting in maintaining regular and timely communication with relevant areas.
•    Preparation of briefing material, correspondence, submissions and reports for ACT Policing executive and stakeholders.
•    Ensuring outputs are achieved within the strategic direction of the AFP.
•    Leading a range of corporate support tasks.
•    Maintaining currency through ongoing professional development
 

Essential Requirements

 

  • You must be an Australian Citizen at the time of application.
  • A Negative Vetting 1 (Secret) security clearance or the ability to obtain one.

Desirable Requirements

 

The following skills and/or experience would be highly regarded:

 

•    Certificate IV in Government Procurement and Contracting is preferred.
•    Project Management qualifications or experience in infrastructure projects is preferred.

  • This role is located in Canberra and applicants are expected to be based in Canberra 
  • Successful applicants must be willing to relocate to Canberra
