What is the role?

Applications are sought from suitably qualified and/or experienced applicants wishing to be considered for the role of Band 7 Team Leader (EL 1 equivalent) Payroll Services within Business Services. Payroll Services is a dynamic high tempo working environment.

 

We are searching for motivated and enthusiastic individuals who have demonstrated experience leading busy and diverse teams. As the Team Leader you will ensure outcomes are delivered in accordance with relevant internal governance, legislation, regulatory frameworks, and the AFP Code of Conduct.

 

As a Team Leader, you will be responsible for leading and managing resources to deliver sound pay outcomes to AFP employees. You will achieve this through your ability to lead the team by managing both capability and capacity in such a way as to ensure efficient and effective outcomes. Your demonstrated understanding of Payroll processing and the applicable legislative framework will support your transition into this role..

 

In this role, you play a pivotal role in developing people, managing change and influencing behaviours that lead to a supportive culture that respects the perspectives, talents and value of each individual.

 

You will encourage new ideas, value diversity and make sound business decisions to deliver an effective and efficient service. You should enjoy engaging with people to create a positive working environment and to build effective working relationships

What will you do?

Payroll Services Team Leaders guide and manage team members responsible for assisting AFP business through the provision of a variety of administrative, payroll and financial functions and tasks. 

 

We are looking for leaders who have relevant skills and experience, and a strong interest in:

 

  • effectively leading a team to deliver high quality payroll outcomes to the organisation
  • developing team members to improve the individual and team capability
  • bringing new and innovative ideas to payroll service delivery
  • utilising effective project and change management practice
  • maintaining currency in subject matter expertise, including legislative frameworks and contemporary Payroll knowledge, through on-going professional development and learning opportunities
  • building and maintaining internal and external stakeholder relationships, including proactive collaboration
  • providing verbal and written advice appropriate to the audience
  • creating and contributing to a positive team culture

Essential Requirements

  • You must be an Australian Citizen at time of application
  • You must have a Negative Vetting 1 (Secret) security clearance or the ability to obtain one
  • Must have demonstrated leadership experience
  • Contemporary Payroll, Human Resources, Corporate and/or Finance experience will be well regarded
