What is the role?

Business Services sits within the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Command. It is a multifaceted branch, which directly contributes to AFP operational outcomes, providing support and enabling our people to deliver maximum impact to the criminal environment. The experience you bring to the role will benefit the organisation by:

 

  • Providing high-quality corporate services to the AFP (supporting the frontline).
  • Managing and implementing business and system improvements to remove barriers, speed up decision making and increase efficiency (reducing red tape).
  • Providing training and help desk facilities to enhance partnerships, engage and work closely with both our members and external stakeholders (enhancing partnerships).

 

The Team Leader works in a high tempo environment, leading the SAP Administration, Help and Support team delivering system administration, system support, user help and system improvement initiatives:

  • Administration and monitoring of the SAP production environment, ensuring appropriate levels of access, a high level of data integrity and system usability.
  • Supporting business areas with analysis and support - including the SAP and ESS portal help desk facility, the processing of payroll and delivery of training.
  • Implementing leading edge technology utilising effective change management practice.
  • Developing and maintaining governance and policy across the team functions.


You will also be required to contribute to the achievement of outcomes in accordance with the regulatory framework, the AFP Code of Conduct and the AFP Governance Instruments. It is expected that the successful applicant will deliver on the core responsibilities and meet any requirements of the position as outlined below.

What will you do?

Reporting to Coordinator Shared Services, the Team Leader is an integral member of the Shared Services Leadership Team. You will be required to:

  • Provide strong leadership to the team and input into the strategic direction of Shared Services and the delivery of outcomes for the AFP.
  • Liaise with key stakeholders on system improvement objectives and alignment with AFP business needs, legislation and federal government policy and direction.
  • Ensure that the team has the appropriate structure and resources to deliver efficient and effective advice and support to the broader AFP; including the fortnightly pay run.
  • Actively manage and promote a healthy working environment. This includes embracing diversity, inclusion and respect.
  • Provide high-level technical advice and position the SAP Administration, Help and Support team as a valued business partner.
  • Manage ad-hoc requests for complex data analysis, system guidance and project support.

Essential Requirements

  • You must be an Australian Citizen at the time of application.
  • A Negative Vetting 1 (Secret) security clearance or the ability to obtain one.
  • Relevant qualification or extensive experience and knowledge in SAP (FI/HR) administration, maintenance and support for a large and complex organisation.
  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office skills, in particular excel.
  • Exceptional stakeholder engagement and communication skills to liaise with diverse stakeholder groups (internal and external).
  • Demonstrated ability to achieve results in a fast paced and dynamic environment, leveraging strong prioritisation skills and modelling enthusiasm and resilience.
  • Demonstrated Team Leader experience, with the ability to lead a team and develop others.
  • Well-developed conceptual, analytical and problem-solving skills in relation to ERP systems and business processes.
  • Experience in providing technical support to users, maintaining security and upgrade management and testing.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to present information in a concise and articulate manner.

Additional Information

  • This role is located in Canberra and applicants are expected to be based in Canberra or willing to relocate.
  • This role is an AFP Band 8 level
