What is the role?

​​Applications are sought from suitably qualified applicants wishing to be considered for the role of Senior Team Leader and Team Leader – Strategic Insights and Planning in the Strategy and Performance Office (SPO).​ SPO is responsible for setting strategic priorities and direction for the AFP, identifying and driving performance improvement. These roles are responsible for the development and delivery of enterprise-wide strategy, policy, and providing strategic advice to the AFP executive to inform decision making.

 

As a Senior Team Leader or Team Leader you also play a pivotal role in developing people, managing change and influencing behaviours that lead to a supportive culture that respects the perspectives, talents and value of each individual.

Candidates are sought with experience:  

  • Designing, developing and driving enterprise strategy; 

  • Providing strategic policy advice to senior executive;  

  • Designing and implementing enterprise-wide planning processes; and  

  • Experience working in futures.  

You will also be required to contribute to the achievement of outcomes in accordance with the regulatory framework, the AFP Code of Conduct and the AFP Governance Instruments. 

 

What will you do?

 

As Senior Team Leader you will be responsible for:

  • leading the AFP's Strategic Insights Centre, and delivery of the annual AFP Futures Games
  • driving the maturation of the AFP's enterprise Business Planning process
  • working with stakeholders to drive strategic outcomes for the AFP
  • leading a dynamic team to develop enterprise strategic artefacts and mature the AFP's strategic framework, and
  • providing strategic policy advice to senior executive

 

As Team leader you will be responsible for:

  • development of AFP enterprise strategic documents, such as the Federal Crime Threat Picture
  • coordination of AFP input into whole of government policy artefacts
  • leading a small team to deliver the AFP's Futures Games
  • delivery of the AFP's enterprise business planning process

Essential Requirements

  • You must be an Australian Citizen at the time of application.
  • A Negative Vetting 1 (Secret) security clearance or the ability to obtain one.
  • Has contemporary knowledge and experience relevant to the role.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a team.
  • Candidates applying for the Senior Team Leader Band 8 role will need to have a minimum of 3 years experience leading a team.

 

Additional Information

 

  • When applying you will be asked to nominate your preferred band level, however final determination of the band level you are found suitable for is at the discretion of the panel
  • This role is located in Canberra or Melbourne however, remote working options may be negotiated.
