The Executive Support Team, within International Command, is looking for individuals to fill a vacancy at the Band 5 level.  The team provides support to AFP senior executives, and supports the AFP’s engagement with international stakeholders. Successful candidates will gain a high level of visibility of the breadth of the AFP’s mission and objectives – particularly on national security and international matters –, and will liaise with stakeholders across the organisation as well as other government departments. 

You will also be required to contribute to the achievement of outcomes in accordance with the regulatory framework, the AFP Code of Conduct and the AFP Governance Instruments. It is expected that the successful applicant will deliver on the core responsibilities and meet any requirements of the position as outlined below.

What will you do?

 

As a member within the Executive Support Team, you will:

  • Coordinate input into briefing material for AFP and International Command executives relating to high-level national and international forums.
  • Coordinate input into ministerial, parliamentary, policy and media responses on matters relating to the AFP's international presence, including, cabinet submissions, national security committees.
  • Develop and maintain awareness of the AFP’s role and any linkage to policy and operational papers and requests from other government departments.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes on a continuous basis and enhance the knowledge of the team.

 

 

We are looking for individuals who are interested in contributing to Australia’s national security. We are seeking candidates who have:

  • Demonstrated coordination skills and the ability to operate in a fast-paced environment, and achieve results within tight timeframes, while managing competing priorities.
  • Strong writing skills and excellent attention to detail, in managing day-to-day tasks and ensuring that briefs and documents are delivered in a timely manner and are of high quality.
  • An ability to communicate effectively and with influence, and where appropriate, tailoring messages according to different audiences.
  • Demonstrated stakeholder engagement skills, and working effectively across teams and building professional networks.

Essential Requirements

 

  • You must be an Australian Citizen at the time of application.
  • A Negative Vetting 1 (Secret) security clearance or the ability to obtain one.
  • Excellent communication; both verbal and written.
  • A high attention to detail.
