What is the role?
Applications are sought from suitably qualified applicants wishing to be considered for the role of Team Member, ACT Policing Finance.
ACT Finance branch is responsible for supporting and ensuring efficient, effective and compliant financial management across ACT Police. There is a position available in ACT Finance for a Band 4 Team Member.
You will also be required to contribute to the achievement of outcomes in accordance with the regulatory framework, the AFP Code of Conduct and the AFP Governance Instruments. It is expected that the successful applicant will deliver on the core responsibilities and meet any requirements of the position as outlined below.
What will you do?
The position sits within the ACT Policing Finance and Commercial portfolio and assists in a range of Finance related services to support ACT Policing outcomes. The role is responsible for contributing and providing advice on management accounting, including budget development and monthly reporting. The position may also be responsible for other administrative tasks as required. The role additionally assists with capital management and external budgets. The successful applicant must demonstrate well developed organisational skills and have extensive technical knowledge and financial experience. In addition, this role will require good communication skills, and an ability to work flexibly in delivering and managing tasks within a high tempo environment.
Other duties may include:
- Performing a range of office management activities.
- Performing month end processes including accrual journals.
- Providing a range of corporate support tasks.
- Undertaking project and research work to support AFP business.
- Monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of ongoing AFP operational activities.
- Contributing to the development and implementation of corporate policies, processes and systems which enhance the delivery of AFP operational outcomes; and
- Maintaining currency in subject matter expertise through ongoing professional development and learning opportunities outside the formal education process.
- Members will be required to work effectively in a small team under the direction of Senior Team Members and Team Leaders.
Essential Requirements
- You must be an Australian Citizen at the time of application.
- A Negative Vetting 1 (Secret) security clearance or the ability to obtain one.
- High level of attention to detail;
- Effective oral and written communication skills;
- Organisational skills, including the ability to manage competing priorities; and
- Relevant qualification or extensive experience and knowledge in area of expertise.
Desirable Requirements
The following skills and/or experience would be highly regarded:
- Tertiary qualifications in accounting/finance.
