What is the role?
The Security Triage and Training team is the central coordination point for security prevention and assurance, including the management of security incident reporting, strategic communications to the workforce. The Security Triage and Training team provides effective and efficient operational, strategic and policy advice on security issues while promoting a security positive culture.
The AFP works closely with a range of stakeholders that include other law enforcement and government agencies.

What will you do?
In support of the AFP security framework the Security Triage and Training team:
- Promotes security awareness and sound security practices among AFP personnel.
- Assists in collating statistics on the reporting of security incidents, including analysis of key trends.
- Develops and markets security awareness material based on gaps identified through security reporting;
- Develops and maintains governance including Commissioner’s Orders and National Guidelines and processes to support a robust security culture;
- Receives, assesses and triages Security Incident Reports and other security reporting.
- Promotes organisational compliance with the mandatory provisions of the Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF);
- Maintains security based policy and AFP HUB information pages;
- Coordinates security advice through the Security hotline and the Security-Triage-and-Training team mailbox; and
- Develops key strategic documents for internal and external Executive committees.
Essential Requirements
- You must be an Australian Citizen at the time of application.
- A Negative Vetting 1 (Secret) security clearance or the ability to obtain one.
- Proven ability to develop and maintain good working relationships.
- Good organisational and time management skills.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
Desirable Requirements
The following skills and/or experience would be highly regarded:
- A Certificate or Diploma in Security.
- Demonstrated ability to triage and evaluate information.
- Experience in or an understanding of security, risk management and the PSPF
- Experience in secretariat – coordination of meetings, taking minutes
