What is the role?
Applications are sought from suitably qualified applicants wishing to be considered for the role of Vacancy - ACT Policing, Team Member, Radio & Technical Services.
As a Team Member in the AFP you will be required to contribute to the achievement of outcomes in accordance with the regulatory framework, the AFP Code of Conduct and the AFP Governance Instruments. It is expected that the successful applicant will deliver on the core responsibilities and meet any requirements of the position as outlined below.
The ACT Policing Radio & Technical Services Team is responsible for the service delivery to the AFP for a vast range of technical requirements. Specifically, this position will be accountable for technical works relating to AFP vehicles and related technical equipment, however is also responsible for providing other technical support functions within the team. These functions include but are not limited to, projects, maintenance and support relating to:
- Radio network and infrastructure;
- Closed circuit TV (CCTV); and
- Speed detection equipment
What will you do?
The role responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Fitting vehicles with technical equipment;
- Achieving technical outcomes within required timeframes;
- Conducting design and implementation of technical systems;
- Working well within a team environment to achieve results;
- Undertaking a range of operational support tasks including team administrative duties when required or as directed;
- Completing regular documentation updates and maintaining document control standards;
- Confidently conducting stocktake, asset management and procurement activities including documentation; and
- Possessing the ability to prioritise tasks within the team structure and adapt to change regularly.
Essential Requirements
- You must be an Australian Citizen at the time of application.
- A Negative Vetting 1 (Secret) security clearance or the ability to obtain one.
- Auto Electrical/Mechanical trade certificates or the ability to obtain and/or demonstrate extensive experience
- Automotive industry experience and knowledge relevant to the role.
- Current first aid certificate or the ability to obtain one
- Metal work and fabrication experience
- Drivers licence
- Possess ability to work in confined spaces and in difficult circumstances
Desirable Requirements
The following skills and/or experience would be highly regarded:
- Electronics certificate 3 and or experience in electronics
- Working at Heights certification or ability to obtain & experience with radio tower climbing
- Heavy Rigid & Motorbike Vehicle Licences
- 4WD Training or experience
- 5 Years Technical experience in related field

Interview

Finger Printing
AFP employees are required to have their finger prints taken. This requirement will be undertaken at the time an offer of employment is made.
