What is the role?

 

The AFP is looking for an experienced, enthusiastic and highly organised Executive Assistant. The Executive Assistant will provide support to the Assistant Commissioner Southern Command (ACSC).


This role is fast paced with rigid timelines and requires managing the office environment and prioritising workflow. To succeed in this role you will have great people skills, the ability to anticipate the needs of senior executives and demonstrate flexibility, resilience and initiative.


The ideal candidate:

 

  • Is a self-starter and able to use initiative to get the work done.
  • Is able to demonstrate and promote the AFP’s core values.
  • Enjoys helping people and can quickly develop effective relationships with members of the AFP executive
  • and their support staff.
  • Has well-developed organisational skills including the ability to manage competing priorities and delivering a
  • very high standard of work.
  • Can use a common sense approach when dealing with problems, has good judgement, integrity and
  • discretion when dealing with confidential and sensitive business matters.
  • Is proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
  • Has demonstrated experience providing high-level administrative support to senior Executives
  • Maintains a professional approach and high level of confidentiality.
  • Can prioritise tasks, is flexible and maintains a calm approach while working under pressure.

 

You will also be required to contribute to the achievement of outcomes in accordance with the regulatory framework, the AFP Code of Conduct and the AFP Governance Instruments. It is expected that the successful applicant will deliver on the core responsibilities and meet any requirements of the position as outlined below.

What will you do?

 

The responsibilities of the role include:

 

  • Providing high level support to the ACSC
  • Organising and prioritising the workflow for the ACSC.
  • Performing a range of office management activities.
  • Responding to enquiries and providing advice to a range of high level clients, including AFP members.
  • Undertaking project and research work to support AFP business.
  • Maintaining effective working relationships and promoting a positive, professional image of the AFP to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ensuring adherence to corporate AFP policies, processes and systems.

Essential Requirements

 

  • You must be an Australian Citizen at the time of application.
  • A Negative Vetting 1 (Secret) security clearance or the ability to obtain one.

Interview

  • participating in a mock interview using the selection criteria to think of possible questions.

Finger Printing

 

AFP employees are required to have their finger prints taken. This requirement will be undertaken at the time an offer of employment is made.
