What is the role?
As a Team Member in the AFP, you will be required to contribute to the achievement of outcomes in accordance with the regulatory framework, the AFP Code of Conduct and the AFP Governance Instruments.
It is expected that the successful applicant will deliver on the core responsibilities and meet any requirements of the position as outlined below.

What will you do?
As Regional Deputy COMSO will provide a key role in the protection of classified information and assets. You will also use your contemporary intelligence and analysis skills to contribute to AFP investigations and operational activity.
Duties include:
- Undertaking the role of Deputy Communications Intelligence Security Officer (DCOMSO).
 - Providing briefings, refresher briefings and de-briefings on behalf of external agencies.
 - Proactively plan, collect, collate and analyse information to produce and disseminate actionable intelligence.
 - Maintain knowledge and understanding of the intelligence environment and relevant Commonwealth legislation.
 - Develop and maintain site specific COMSO Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
 - Support AFP COMSO in conducting inspections and audits to ensure compliance with the Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF).
 - Prepare and provide information and intelligence briefings to AFP business areas and AFP executive.
 - Investigate security incidents referred to the COMSO Team as the Security Incident Report Officer (SIRO).
 - Working closely with investigations and intelligence teams, provide advice on security implications to support AFP and partner agency operational activity.
 - Liaise with relevant AFP business areas and external agencies on matters relevant to security.
 - Provide travel briefings.
 - Manage tenant agency requirements, including liaising with relevant external agencies.
 
Essential Requirements
- You must be an Australian Citizen at the time of application.
 - This role requires a current TS PV/PA, or ability to obtain one
 
- Contemporary experience in managing classified information
 - Contemporary knowledge and experience in the national security intelligence environment
 - Successful completion of mandatory psychological and integrity gateways
 - Ability to work flexible hours (including evenings, weekends and public holidays) and undertake on-call duties
 
Desirable Requirements
- Experience in physical (building) security management
 - Qualifications in a relevant discipline
 - Experience in stakeholder liaison in intelligence environment
 - Good understanding and demonstrated application of the Australian Government Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF)
 
Additional Information
- Please note that this position is on an Operations Working Pattern and attracts a 22% composite.
 - Role is unable to be undertaken remotely. Successful applicant must reside in geographical location or be willing to relocate at own expense for role and work from office in that location.
