What is the role?

The Australian Institute of Police Management (AIPM) is a National Common Police Service, administered by the Australian Federal Police (AFP).  It specialises in the development of leadership capability for individuals and organisations involved in the innovative provision of policing, law enforcement, security, public safety, emergency services and related professions.  Our programs are a blended delivery of online, distance education and residential sessions.  Our small campus comprises educational, catering, accommodation and conferencing facilities.

 

This is a solo ICT position located at the AIPM campus in Manly.  Our ideal candidate is an experienced IT professional with a minimum of 3 years’ experience working in a similar role.  You will have a high level of capability and knowledge working across diverse computing environments and a broad range of application exposure tailored to educational and hospitality facilities service delivery.  You will have strong interpersonal and communication skills, a proven ability to provide professional services within tight deadlines and work with minimal supervision.

What will you do?

Reporting to the reporting to the Director, Business Development you will primarily be responsible for the day-to-day management and delivery of first level support to staff and clients across all facets of IT operations at the AIPM.

This includes:

  • Providing help desk support and technical assistance to staff and clients.
  • Managing and maintaining servers, workstations, backup systems and audiovisual equipment.
  • Maintaining ICT records, software licences and asset registers.
  • Providing technical advice and support across a range of ICT systems and applications.
  • Coordinating and implementing software upgrades, updates and system enhancements.
  • Managing classroom ICT equipment, including configuration, performance optimisation and routine operational checks.
  • Ensuring the physical security and effective management of ICT assets.
  • Supporting ICT governance, procurement and compliance activities.
  • Maintaining and promoting robust cyber security governance practices to safeguard the organisation's digital environment.
  • Coordinating and managing second-level ICT support delivered by external service providers.
  • Liaising with vendors and stakeholders to ensure reliable and effective ICT service delivery.

Essential Requirements

 

  • You must be an Australian Citizen at the time of application.
  • A Negative Vetting 1 (Secret) security clearance or the ability to obtain one.
  • A minimum of 3 years demonstrated experience ICT experience and skills.
  • Relevant formal ICT qualification. 
  • Proven experience in the provision of first level support for ICT services and management of second level ICT support from external service providers.
  • Well-developed knowledge and experience in software and hardware installation, management and maintenance procedures across a range of platforms including: Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365 including Teams, Intune management and Hybrid Active Directory.
  • Demonstrated ability to support and optimize IT systems to enhance learning environments and infrastructure, streamline operations and ensure reliable service delivery. 

Desirable Requirements

The following skills and/or experience would be highly regarded:

 

  • Network engineering including Ubiquiti Unifi, Firewalls and Web proxy’s. 
  • Experience in Video Management Systems. 
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to develop and maintain good staff and client relationships.
  • Manage competing priorities and ability to work to tight deadlines.

  • This role is located on site in Manly, NSW and applicants are expected to be based in Sydney, NSW.
  • This is a 12 month non-ongoing position with the possibility of a 12 month extension
