What is the role?
The Australian Institute of Police Management (AIPM) is a National Common Police Service, administered by the Australian Federal Police (AFP). It specialises in the development of leadership capability for individuals and organisations involved in the innovative provision of policing, law enforcement, security, public safety, emergency services and related professions. Our programs are a blended delivery of online, distance education and residential sessions.
We are seeking a person to primarily perform the full range of housekeeping services at the AIPM as well as occasional reception and front of house support including food and beverage service. Reporting to the Manager Hospitality and Facilities, you will be responsible for providing housekeeping services for up to 54 participants and guests in a 4 star conferencing and educational facility in Manly, Sydney. To be successful in this role you will have previous experience working as a housekeeper, have a great eye for the details, good communication and time management skills.
What will you do?
The key responsibilities of the role include:
Housekeeping:
- Clean guest rooms to AIPM standards including bathrooms and bedding.
- Replenish linen, towels, toiletries and guest amenities.
- Maintain high standards of hygiene and presentation.
- Report maintenance issues or damages promptly.
- Manage room preparedness on an electronic room management system.
- Provide on the job training to casual/agency staff as required
Dining Room / Food & Beverage / Front of House / Reception
- Prepare AIPM dining room for service.
- Serve meals to guests and clear tables.
- Reception: greet and brief guests on arrival to the AIPM.
- Reception: check guests in and out of rooms and deal with in-person enquiries.
Essential Requirements
- You must be an Australian Citizen at the time of application.
- A minimum Baseline security clearance or the ability to obtain one.
- Minimum of 2+ years’ experience working in a similar role.
- The ability to work flexibly outside of core business hours on weekdays and weekends.
Desirable Requirements
The following skills and/or experience would be highly regarded:
- Ability to work autonomously and in a team environment.
- Knowledge and understanding of cleaning procedures and safety guidelines.
- Experience using digital property management software such as RMS.
- Customer service focussed and good interpersonal skills.
Additional Information
- This is a 12 month non-ongoing position.
- This role is located at the AIPM campus in Manly, Sydney and applicants are expected to be based in Sydney.
- This role attracts a composite allowance in recognition of expanded working hours, normal patterns of attendance and shift patterns (such as afternoon shifts, weekends and Designated Public Holidays) that are required under the Operations working pattern. In accordance with the AFP Enterprise Agreement, an employee who is required to work in accordance with the Operations working pattern will receive a Core Composite of 22% in addition to their base salary, which will count as salary for superannuation. The Commissioner has the authority to remove a composite from a role.
